Multitask with a quad core laptop

quad core laptop
The differences in performance between laptops and desktops are slowly decreasing. Some of the top end performance-based laptops are coming with configurations which any desktop owner would love to have.
Usually processor manufacturers such as Intel and AMD  design low-powered dual core processors instead of quad core processors for laptops. The reason behind this is that high-end quad core laptops would reduce your battery life significantly. But with the advent in technology, energy-efficient quad core laptops are available to give us the power to effortlessly multitask. Let us take a look at a couple of quad core laptops.
Apple 17inch Mac Book Pro
In recent times the MacBook pro has become one of the most popular laptops around. They offer some of the best specifications and performance that you will find in a laptop. The build quality is by far the best you will find. Coming to the configuration the 17 inch MacBook Pro comes with the latest Intel quad core i7 processors. It also comes with 4 GB ram in dual channel. The 17 inch display is vibrant and bright and it is full HD ready. That means it can display a resolution of about 1920*1080. Along with this you get a 750 GB hard drive with an option to upgrade to a 1.5 TB hard drive. Lastly this laptop comes with an AMD Radeon HD 6750M graphics card with 1GB GDDR5 memory. This will be more than sufficient for any video editing or playing the latest games.
Alienware M14x
If there was a laptop which gave the perfect blend between performance and battery life, it has to be the Alienware M14x. This laptop comes with the latest Core i7/i5 quad core processors from Intel to give you the best possible processing power. This laptop also comes with the Nvidia GT 555 graphics card with Optimus technology which will give you enough firepower to play the latest games and also not drain your battery. Apart from that it comes with about 4 GB of RAM which can be upgraded to 12 GB and a 500 GB hard drive which should suffice a laptop user on the go. This is one well-designed futuristic looking laptop which will draw attention no matter where you go!
So get yourself the latest quad core laptops and experience desktop computing on a laptop!

Cheap Blackberry accessories for the accessory-impaired

blackberry torch skins
So you have a Blackberry, huh? Tough luck. Anyhow, if you have a Blackberry, but no accessories, prices are low and now is the time to snatch them up. Make the best of a bad situation, and all that. So what accessories are essential for your Blackberry? Try these on for size. Or you can save up for another phone. Whatever floats your boat.

Skins

blackberry torch skinsBlackberry skins are cheaper than ever, so finding Blackberry Torch skins or a Blackberry Bold skin will cost you nothing more than a couple of bucks. There are a ton of different designs and patterns available, as well as different textures and materials. I personally prefer plain solid-colors, but if you want leopard-print or something, it’s out there.

Dongles

Heh, dongles. These are little doodads that dangle off your phone antenna, to add a bit of personality or flair to your phone. Whether it is your favorite cartoon character or some sort of cause, you can find dongles of all sizes and shapes to tell a little bit about your personality or style. I’m not sure if there are actually spots to place them on newer Blackberry phones though, although you could try attaching it to the skin.

Rhinestones

If you’re going all out on the accessories, you might as well go big. Rhinestones help mask the fact that you own a Blackberry, by distracting their eye with crazy bling. I believe it’s the same principle certain butterflies use to ward off predators. Get your Blackberry rhinestone-encrusted with your name for extra points.

Latest Sony Vaio laptops

laptop Sony Vaio
If there was a brand of laptops that have consistently looked good it would have to be the Sony Vaio series of laptops. They have been known to be stylish and sleek and they sure do a lot to keep that image. Their latest series of laptops are a blend of performance and portability. Let us take a look at a few of their latest laptops.

Sony Vaio basically has 3 series of laptops. They are the Mobility series, the Everyday series and the Multimedia series. The Mobility series is the most popular series among them and they are basically for those who demand ultra portability. These laptops will give you amazing battery life and are very easy to carry around. Under the Mobility series you have the Y and S laptop. These two laptops come in screen sizes of 11.6 inches and 13.3 inches. They are extremely light weighing in at about 3.4 lbs. They are available in Dual core AMD and Intel processors. Both these laptops might lack the raw processing power which other laptops possess but they make up for in mobility. In fact they are perfect for those of you who travel a lot and need to access a computer at all times.
The Everyday series of Sony Vaio has two very balanced laptops. They give you the perfect blend of performance and mobility. They are available in a variety of screen sizes ranging from 14 inches to 17.3 inches. They come with Intel dual core i5 processors which should give you adequate processing power. They also feature an AMD Radeon graphics card which should suffice for all multimedia and gaming requirements. Now even with all these features it doesn’t really sacrifice on battery life. The battery life claimed by Sony is about 5 hours on the 14 inch models and about 3 hours on the 17 inch models. Currently it is the most balanced laptop Sony Vaio has to offer.
If you are looking for a desktop replacement then the Multimedia series should be the way to go. These laptops are extremely powerful and will offer you similar performance to what you would get on a desktop. These laptops come with quad core high performance Intel i7 processors along with dedicated graphics from Nvidia. This will ensure you can play all the latest games available at playable frame rates! The battery life of these laptops is not going to be good but that’s what you would get from a desktop replacement. Considering the configuration it is available at it still weighs in at about 6.5 lbs which is still decent for a desktop replacement.

iPhone 4 Cases to protect your Phone

iPhone 4 Bumpers
The iPhone 4 comes out in less than a week, launching what looks to be the most successful version (pre-sales sold out in less than 24 hours) of Apple’s already successful all-in-one smart phone.
If you’re one of the lucky few that was able to get a pre-order in, or plan on camping out for the phone on launch day, you’re probably going to want to pick up an iPhone case to protect your new investment. As an owner of the original iPhone, I know from experience how useful it is to have a great case– I’ve dropped my current phone over 50 times, and it still works great thanks to my great case (a black Agent 18).

So what iPhone 4 cases will be available for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 4?

Sena Wallet Skin iPhone 4
So far, a lot of the major case manufacturers haven’t announced their iPhone 4 case designs yet. Speck, Incase, and Agent 18; all major iPhone case manufacturers; still have not released any cases for the new phone. This is likely due to the strict secrecy in which Apple keeps its new product designs, which prevent case manufacturers from designing new cases until the products are released to the public.
There are a few cases that have been announced though. First off is Apple’s own iPhone 4 case, dubbed the “iPhone 4 Bumper”. These are multicolored rubber and molded-plastic cases that wrap around the side of the iPhone 4, protecting the sides of the phone, while leaving the durable glass back and face of the phone uncovered. These cases will add a touch of color to your phone, as well as protect some protection from dropping it on its side.
Power Support Film iPhone 4
For those looking for a little more protection, you might want to consider the Exovault iPhone case, which wraps the entire phone in a durable brass, aluminum, or titanium enclosure. These cases look great and are sure to provide great protection to the phone against dropping, but do add a little bit of bulk to the phone. The cases also run from $95 to $300 for the titanium version, so they might be a bit overpriced for the frugal iPhone case buyer.
For those looking for a case that not only provides protection, but portability as well, Sena has announced that they will be launching their entire line of popular iPhone cases for the new phone as well. These include the popular WalletSkin case, which covers the entire phone in quality leather and features a flip open screen, as well as the WalletBook, which lets you clip your iPhone to your belt.
And if you’re looking to keep the gorgeous RetinaDisplay of your new iPhone 4 clear of finger prints, Power Support is releasing their brand of iPhone screen covers for the upcoming iPhone. These covers not only help keep the iPhone screen clean, but also includes an anti-glare finish, so that you can see the display of the phone better outdoors or in bright light settings. It doesn’t offer any protection, but will help you keep your iPhone looking better, longer.
Those are just a few of the iPhone 4 cases that have been announced or are available today. These are some pretty good options if you need something to keep you covered on launch day, but expect to see more cases released as the major manufacturers get ahold of iPhone 4s of their own.

Use a 25 inch TV for television and a computer monitor

25 inch TV
LCD displays have slowly but steadily taken over from CRT displays over the past few years. They are a lot thinner and consume less energy. One more thing that has made LCD displays popular is their versatility. They can be used as a TV as well as a monitor for your computer. This ability makes them extremely advantageous if you happen to have a space or budget constrain. Most LCD TV’s have HDMI and DVI ports through which you can connect to your computer. The HDMI port can also be connected to a DVD player or even the latest gaming consoles.

In case your LCD TV doesn’t have a HDMI port you can use the composite cable port to connect to your cable set top box system. With a TV you could keep your PC and other devices connected. Whenever you want to use them, all you need to do is select the port that are present  via the TV remote. So this way there is no need to keep removing or connecting wires every time you want to use a particular device.
When buying a TV that is also going to be used as a computer monitor, you should know that something too large may not be what you want. Ideally a 25 inch TV would be perfect as it won’t be too expensive and it would be pretty functional as well. The 26 inch LCD TV’s from Samsung are the best ones you can get and they all support full HD which means you can even play your favorite games in full 1080p glory!
Get smart and get yourself a TV that doubles as a computer monitor as well!

Charge your Blackberry Bold on the go with an external battery

Blackberry 9200
The advancement of cell phones has been exponential over the past few years. The number of features just kept pouring in but one thing that hasn’t really improved dramatically is the battery life. With the improvement in the features, the battery life of Smart phones in particular took a big hit. With the size constraints that phones have, manufacturers decided look into portable battery chargers instead of trying to improve the internal one. Let’s take a look at one.

When it comes to business phones, the Blackberry phones are clearly the best you can find. They quite easily have the best email system among other mobiles devices. The battery life is also petty good but if you happen to be a traveler, I am sure you would want more. This is why they introduced the Blackberry 9200 battery charger. This device here allows you to charge your Blackberry Bold’s battery rapidly. To take full advantage of this device you would have to get yourself an extra blackberry battery. This way you could use one battery and charge the other. The best part about this is that it charges your battery in just under two hours. The small convenient design also allows you to carry it around without any problems.
This battery charger works with almost all the 8 series and 7 series Blackberry phones. This device is a must if you need your phone to be switched on at all times. In case you are driving you could even connect it up to your car and charge the spare battery. The LED indicators will turn green when the battery is fully charged and orange when it is still charging. This is a particularly good accessory for people who really can’t afford their Blackberry’s switching off!

Small but not dumb

htc smartThe cell phone industry is exploding. Not only in adoption but the size of phones too. Just take a look at all the phones out there with 4″ or larger screens. Samsung’s Galaxy S was already big enough at 4″ but good old Sammy is releasing an even bigger 4.5″ Infuse 4G phone on AT&T soon. Hipsters everywhere will have difficulty trying to stuff this phone into their skinny jeans. On the opposite end of the spectrum, there are phones like the HTC Aria and the HP Veer that are getting smaller. Let’s take a look and see why some companies are pursuing smaller phones.

HTC Smart
HTC Smart: the phone that started it all
Small phones have been around for a long time but they have always been dumb phones, or phones that don’t have advanced features like a web browser or access to downloadable applications. HTC started experimenting with small dumb phones back in 2010 with the HTC Smart, an ironic name given to a tiny phone with a dumb phone operating system. In a time when smartphone market share was skyrocketing, the HTC Smart wasn’t the smartest of moves and subsequently faded into oblivion.
Although the Smart flopped, HTC saw the need for cheaper, smaller phones and came out with the HTC Aria, which ran the full Android OS. It was practically free with a 2 year contract and was cute and pocketable. The Aria didn’t sell close to as many units as their other phones but it was still a solid handset.
HP recently released the Veer which continues the trend of small, pocketable cellphones with powerful operating systems. Too bad the internals of the phone are too slow and make the WebOS chug on the device. Hopefully someone will release a better compact phone in the future that doesn’t lack the features or speed of its bigger brothers. I think there is definitely a market for smaller, cheaper phones. They may be small but they’re not dumb (phones.)
