Create bohemian summer waves

Bohemian waves
The bohemian attitude is making waves everywhere. The boho-urban-chic style has made a comeback for more than two seasons now and is definitely here to stay. During the summer, Bohemian waves look gorgeous on the hair. It reflects the vagabond and adventurous style. For all you women with frizzy hair, this style is a boon. The wavy hair kind of embraces my free-spirit, especially after the tied-up and prim hairdo I keep at work, all week long.
History of the look: The boho-chic is not a fashion trend created by baby-boomers. It goes way back to the 19th century when a relaxing attitude was promoted against the classic colonial norms. It began with hairdos and went on to influence the style of living, working and even recreation.
To create this fashionable and spontaneous look all that you need is-
Long wavy hair
Protective serum or mousse- Apply a protective serum or mousse on the hair before styling. Products like Healthy Curls Anti-frizz Cream for Curly Wavy Hair protect the hair from the curling iron’s heat and make sure that the waves stay in place for a longer time.
Curling iron or hair curlers- Let your hair loose and experiment. Use a triple barrel curling iron to style your hair as per its texture, length and of course your face type. You can also try out the Wholesale Case Lot Sponge Hair Rollers Curlers Sets. These non-electric curlers take a slightly longer time, but prevent damage due to heat of curling irons.
Curly bun
The top three bohemian styles I freak over are-
  1. Partially braided hair on the front with loose curls at the back
  2. Soft long waves which looks chic for formal occasions too
  3. Low buns with hair left loose near the forehead. Relaxed, feminine and definitely simplistic

Hair color trends for 2011

mahogany brown hair
Keep up with trends if you want to be stylish and in vogue. Change your hair color according to your skin tone and eyes and add to your natural beauty. Hair texture matters too. For some hard-core hair color trends and tips, take a look here

  • One thing is clear. Natural is in and trends in 2011 distinctly lean towards naturalness.
  • If you’re fair and have a peachy and creamy complexion, try out red hair color. It’s the hottest trend this year. Fire engine red looks lovely on fair skin. But keep in mind that red hair and fair skin can show up all the flaws on your facial skin.
  • If you’re just adding red highlights, focus on adding undertones of that shade to create highlights. It can also help you choose a color that suits your skin type and face and bring an added depth to your face. mahogany brown hair
  • You can never go wrong with classic brown. Brown suits most skin tones and is a highly popular color. Lots of brown shades are available and 2011 sees no drop in the demand for brown color at all. You can choose to have rich mahogany brown hair or a dark, rich chocolate. Or even a coffee color depending on your skin tone.
  • Experts say that textured or curly hair take very well to highlights. They tend to be more noticeable so it’s important to identify the spots where you want to highlight your hair.
If you have doubts about what hair color suits you, please consult a stylist. Give hair care maximum priority.  And remember not to follow trends blindly as how your hair ultimately looks, depends on your natural hair-color and undertones.

Turn up the volume with hair thickening lotion

hair thickening lotion

Who doesn’t aspire for some shiny and voluminous tresses? It is your crowning glory after all. I know people who would give anything to avoid bad hair days, including yours truly! But hey, we now have help on hand in the form of hair thickening lotion that can do wonders for thin, limp hair. Here’s some sage advice on how to give your hair volume from someone who’s been there, done that!

  • You’ve got to believe that there’s someone out there who’s going to help you. Yes, your hair thickening lotion. But before that you have to get your hair ready.
  • Use a shampoo and conditioner that suits your hair type and use it only every alternate day. Don’t use it daily or your hair kind of looks lifeless and oh, so limp. You want to avoid that.
  • Use only as much shampoo is needed. OD’ing it will only go against your hair.
  • When hair’s still wet, apply some moose to your hair. Never compromise and use only quality products.hair thickening lotion
  • Then you come to your thickening lotion. I generally use Redken thickening lotion and I find it gives my hair that much needed texture and body and creates a full volume that feels good to touch and easy to style.
  • Spray on the hair thickening lotion and focus on the roots. Comb through or blow dry. Blow drying helps your hair dry faster and gives your hair more volume.
John Freida thickening lotion is something else I have used and found effective as it has sunscreen to protect hair from UV rays. Give your hair volume and shine with thickening lotions and look gorgeous.

Intensely stimulating hair treatment that is also organic

organic root mayonnaise treatment
I love my hair! Unfortunately, I also love experimenting with colors, perms, straightening and rollers. Over the years, my hair suffered from intense damage. I did try using chemical based packs, treatments and serums, but nothing seemed to work.

Someday recommended home-made packs, but honestly who has the time. And applying honey and yogurt for dry hair is really messy! I came across this organic root mayonnaise treatment accidentally. The hair stimulator claimed that it was made from all organic products and could rejuvenate it again.
Hair stimulatorSince I had already tried scores of products, might as well give this a shot. After the first application of the mayonnaise treatment, I just couldn’t stop touching my hair. Not only was it unbelievably soft, it seemed as someone had cast a magic spell on it. My hair was shinier, bouncier and smelled so great.
The product is enriched with olive oil, egg protein, herbs and other hydrating botanicals. It restores, renews, moisturizes, and strengthens the hair. Not only this, the application procedure was so simple. Just apply it, leave it on for some time and wash it off. You don’t have to spend hours cleaning your bathroom.
There are a lot of organic hair treatments like the above, which are cost-effective and work wonders for your hair. They are safer than regular, cosmetic brands and work much better than their chemical counterparts. These include-
  • Natural mango hair treatments for dry hair
  • French oil for all hair types
  • Tea tree and mint based for allergic or dandruff prone scalp

Get Mega Smooth Hair, No Brazilian Blow-Out Required

You can easily achieve mega-smooth hair using a flat iron. Even a novice can-do, with these pointers from the pros.New flat irons with ceramic or tourmaline plates are gentler on hair. “A flat iron that’s about 1 ½ inches wide is easiest to work with,” says Nick Arrojo, who until recently was the hairstyle guru for TLC’s What Not to Wear. "Never use a flat iron on wet hair; it fries the strands."
1. Prep dry hair with a thermal protective styling product to shield strands from heat, tame frizz and add shine.
2. Detangle with fingers or a brush.
3. Twist hair into a few sections; clip each in place, leaving one section loose.
4. Lift and hold the loose section of hair at a 90 degree angle from your head. Clamp the iron down on the hair close to the roots--without touching the scalp--then pull it slowly down the length of hair to the ends. Move gently and evenly down the hair shaft. “If you press the iron plates too firmly or move it too slowly you risk damaging hair,” says Arrojo. Once all sections are ironed, spritz hair with anti frizz spray to lock in smoothness.
