After raving endlessly about boyfriend-inspired jeans and shirts, fashion magazines shift their attention to watches inspired by men. Chunky or big-dial watches, as they are commonly referred to, these women’s watches come with a menswear vibe.
When the trend started I really loved the idea of larger watches on thin and delicate wrists. Alexa Chung’s masculine-feminine dichotomy is one fashion mantra that suits the like of many celebrities. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have sported vintage menswear watches at many red carpet events.
Britney Spears swears by Roger Dubuis along with Chopard Montres Dame and Breitling watches, while trendy Victoria Beckham (aka Posh Spice) prefers Piaget. If I had to break the bank, then Rolex, Omega and Breguet would probably top my list. But right now I have to make do with some pocket-friendly and yet fashionable alternatives like-
1. Tommy Hilfiger lady watch
When it comes to men inspired watches, Tommy Hilfiger blends chunky masculinity with feminine hues and embellishments. Big dials with pink straps and matte gold with diamonds are two of my favorites.
2. Fossil
The Fossil boyfriend watch in silver is another men-inspired design with a dash of effeminacy. It has a round stainless steel case textured pink dial. Other features include three-hand quartz movement, multi sub-dials and a shiny and brushed metal link bracelet.
3. Guess
Guess has a range of contemporary designs that retains the masculine touch with some bold colors like purple and turquoise. The Guess logo on the dial and enhanced features make these watches very popular with women. In fact, they are very close to regular men’s watches.
