The white trend continues into Summer 2011

white skirts
Fashion magazines have stated that white is the new black, brown and tons of other colors. Bottom line is that white is an evergreen staple for your wardrobe. It was the go-to color for sleek and stylish dressing. Fashion houses like Chloe, Michael Kors and even Calvin Klein have showcased white in all its elegance!
Be it retro silhouettes, sporty tops, Bohemian dresses or structured suiting. Dolce & Gabbana had white in almost everything in their Spring offering. Alexander Wang experimented with casual white basics and leather accessories. White lacy trends were incorporated by Lauren Conrad and Milla Jovovich. One of my favorites was the exquisite blouse and skirt combo by Erdem.
So, if you want to get spotted in one of the most fashionable colors of the season, here’s what you can do-
White skirts
1. White skirts
Flirty white skirts in frills, laces, ruches or even regular minis never fail to make an impression. During the summers opt for linens and intricate cotton weaves. A maxi skirt is one of my wardrobe staples. You can dress it up for an evening date with a shimmery or satin top or dress it down with a chic tank for a casual look. If maxi cuts are not your style opt for a straight, seamless short skirt or a knee-length A-line.
2. White top or dress
Minimal is the style mantra I choose for white tops or dresses. I prefer picking lacy or tousled fabrics that add elegance to this simple and basic color. Chose cuts and shapes that suit your body type. As a rule of thumb, make sure you sport the right innerwear with whites to avoid goof-ups. If you are pairing a white top with a skirt, then add some color to break the monotony like accessorizing with a vibrant belt!
3. White accessories
Sunglasses and bags are the hottest white accessory for the season. You can also opt for broad or ultra-thin belts, watches and shoes in white leather. But unless you want to be nicknamed “Snow White” don’t over-do the look!
