Animal print dress: A classic or an overdone trend

 

Animal print came about with the desire to have clothing that resembles the pattern of the skin and fur of an animal. Some popular animal prints worn are Tiger, Zebra, Giraffe, Cheetah, Snake and Leopard Prints. Chic, bold and daring are the adjectives people associate with an animal print clothing.

Animal print dresses have been there for a long time now and are still fashionable. An animal print dress is definitely a love-hate relationship. Additionally, animal print dresses are very hard to work. When done right, it is effective. Otherwise, it is easy to look like a night-walker in one of these or look like you have been blasted to 2011 from the eighties. There is a fine line between looking fierce and just plain funny. Some tips when wearing an animal print dress:

• The accessories have to compliment the print. If you wear an animal print dress, you should try to refrain from wearing bright colors or tacky pieces of jewelry. This may draw attention away from the boldness of the print and instead make the overall outfit look tacky.
• Apply a very natural makeup.
• When it comes to animal prints, or any bold prints for that matter, less is more.  For example, leopard print makes the perfect accessory in a pair of pumps, a handbag, or a scarf, but you can have too much of a good thing.  Stick with only one leopard print accessory.
• Go with plain black or white to accessorize the animal print dress, depending on the color. It will be too much to wear anything else with it.
• You cannot put other colors or more patterns with an animal print.
• Stick to one animal printed item per ensemble. So do not go mixing and matching different animal prints.
• Avoid the uniform look by wearing accessories also of the same animal print you are wearing.
• Neutral colored accessories can go well with Tiger, Zebra, Giraffe, Cheetah and Leopard Prints dresses.

Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Megan Fox, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Lopez and Eva Mendes have been seen wearing animal prints dresses at various events. What more proof that they are the hottest trend in women’s wear? It is definitely more than a passing interest in print for all these strong and stylish women.
Other the other hand, it feels like a jungle out there with this overdone trend of animal print. Cheetah, zebra, giraffe and leopard prints are all over in clothing, accessories, bedding etc. I think this is one animal passion that should be left in the jungle. And, anyone who tells you different is lion.
