Long flowy chiffon dresses have a way of making me feel like a princess waiting to be wooed by Prince Charming. So it goes without saying that I have a weakness for them. There have been so many occasions when I’ve fallen in love with an absolutely enchanting outfit and bought it on impulse, only to realize much later that I don’t have any occasion in the near future to wear it to. Earlier I would have waited for weeks on end for some event to come up. Recently the realization struck me that I could get greater usage from my fancy dresses if I dressed them down. Here are a few examples on how you could do so.
If you have a fancy silk chiffon long dress like the Marianna long dress and you feel a bit hesitant to wear it due to the bling, then tone down the dress by showing only a hint of the sequins. You could do so by layering it with a open front jacket and cinching it at the waist with a belt.
- You could add a bit of edge to a feminine dress like the Zac Posen Crepe & Chiffon Long Sleeve Dress, with a leather vest and boots. If you want to add a Western touch, just put on a hat too!
- A classic gown like the Amsale ruffle front silk chiffon dress could be dressed down by putting on a red and white polka dot top. Tie a red scarf like a headband and accessorize with a red cuff bangle and a white polka dotted bag.
