Cropped tops

Cropped jackets, womens shrug, cropped tops
The first thought that comes to your mind when you hear the word “cropped tops” is probably midriff-baring shirts that bring you back straight to the eighties. Don’t worry, girls! Even if you don’t have washboard abs, you can still flaunt cropped blouses or shrugs- here’s how!

The idea is that if you layer the garment right, then you can carry off any cropped top. Basically, these are silhouettes where the top is cut off higher than usual, at or above the natural waist. So, the attention naturally goes to a slender waist. But thanks to layering, you can create an illusion of a curvy and toned waistline.
Try these ideas to carry off these tops cut above the waist:

1. Cropped jackets

Cropped jackets are a great choice for carrying off this high-cut silhouette without drawing too much attention to the waist. I love to pair this Guess jacket (pictured above, third from the right) with a simple skin hugging tank or top. Made from luxe soft leather, this cropped jacket is simply irresistible. The golden-toned zipper detailing is hip enough to be worn to pubs and clubs. The long sleeve makes it wearable during colder seasons too.

2. Womens shrug

Shrugs add an easy, relaxed feel to your wardrobe and are perfect for achieving an interesting layered look.

3. Cute cropped sweaters

A cropped sweater is both feminine and demure, and alluring: this cropped garment provides a great way to flaunt your waist and stay warm.
When wearing cropped tops, remember to:
  • Avoid wearing contrasting colors if you have a healthier waistline. Contrast adds to the bulk.
  • Go for a uniform color option to create the illusion of a slimmer and longer torso
  • Avoid very low-waist bottoms. It just kills the look and appears tacky.
