Last month I visited a dermatologist as I was having severe rashes and prickly heat on my back. The itching and irritating was spreading to the arms, chest and even stomach. The dermatologist explained that I was allergic to certain chemical dyes used in commercial garments.
Honestly, I was on the verge of tears! Do I have to wear only whites now? The dermatologist recommended organic t-shirts, made from vegetable dyes. She suggested that she uses organic chemistry t shirts and I should try them too.
So I decided to check these out online and boy was I glad? Not only were these garments made from organic dyes and materials, they were trendy too. I was thinking that there must be a pocket pinch here, but I found these t-shirts surprisingly affordable. And it’s really worth spending a couple of dollars extra on organic clothes instead of making your skin suffer.
A lot of you must be thinking that so what if organic cotton and dyes are used in manufacturing these? Agricultural pesticides are still a menace. However, organic cotton is grown only on land, which has been certified to be free from any pesticide or other chemical defoliants.
Green farming methods like rotation of crops, using natural rodents and beneficial insects along human labor and organic fertilizers helps to maintain a healthy environment. As for me, I don’t have to worry about allergens and rashes on the skin due to these toxins.
And I am proud that I picked organic tees over commercial ones to make a small contribution towards conserving the environment!
