This fashion is mine

This fashion is mine blog
Gwen McMullin is a UK based Fashion and Lifestyle blogger who started writing her own blog after being inspired by many great ones. She is passionate about photography, fashion, styling, art, music and travel. Let us take a peek into what got her into Fashion.

What got you interested in fashion and photography?

I have always had very creative people in my family and I think I picked up the artistic gene. I have always loved taking pictures and there is nothing more satisfying than uploading some brilliant images after shooting. People, Portraits and Fashion are my favorite areas.
I have not always been so fashion conscious. Ever since making my own wardrobe choices I have made terrible mistakes. I am in no way an expert and I am still learning but I am enjoying exploring fashion and finding out what works for me.

Are there any rules when it comes to style and fashion?

Her response- “Be completely happy and comfortable in what you are wearing. Try new things at least once a month, challenge yourself. But also think logically; those over sized gorilla-like fur jackets seen on the catwalks of Prada recently look great on the models, but they might not be for you.
Someone awkwardly stuffed into the most current and fashion-forward trend can be spotted a mile off as a style novice. Choose what is right for you. And if you really want the gorilla jacket, wear it with confidence – it makes the world of difference.”

How would you describe your personal style?

I am a high-street girl at heart. I like boyish over sized blazers and chunky knitwear.  Mixing floaty feminine dresses with chunky lace up boots gives an outfit an edge. I’d happily dress for a festival all year round. At the moment, I am really into Aztec prints and anything that screams of English Heritage.

What do you think of the future of fashion trends?

The way I see it fashion comes about by looking at the old and seeing how it can be made new and appealing to today. That is why digging your wardrobe out from the 70s because you hear its back does not always work. Things move on and revisiting past trends will never be quite the same as the first time around. I am excited for the future of fashion. I look forward to the time where I can tell my teenage children “That’s what we were always wearing back then” and “We had it first!”
Just when you think you’ve seen it all, something returns with a twist! It is very rare something entirely new is born. But that’s what’s so exciting.

Where do you get your style inspiration?

I scour Tumblr.com and other fashion blogs all the time for both fashion and photography ideas. They are great sources of inspiration. I take in brand new images every single day and some things just stick. I pick and choose when it comes to trends so if I don’t like something I’m not going to wear it just because everyone else is.
