Neutrals are still in

Bright ocean blues and emerald greens may catch the eye, but one thing I have learned over the years is that neutrals are timeless. With all the colors that cycle within fashion spreads, white, creams and browns still keep coming back.

What makes them a wardrobe staple all the rage with top-notch labels is that neutrals are classic. At the recent Cannes Film Festival, neutral hues were sported by many celebrities. And most of them ranked on the best dressed list!
A lot of people consider neutrals to be boring. But if accessorized and stylized the right way, they can sure pep up a dull day. I have this brown chiffon dress in leopard print from Jason Wu, which is one of my best investments so far. Why? Well, you can wear it anytime of the day.
Be it clubbing or just lunch with the girls, the dress works just fine. Since the color is not too severe, I don’t have to worry about a faux pas with animal prints. I simply wear it with black pumps and hoops to look chic, without trying too hard.
Chiffon and georgettes in particular work well for these colors. Since the material is flowy, there’s a lot that you can do to flatter your style. For example, lacing is hot this season, so pick something that combines sheer lace in a silhouette-accentuating cut for formal occasions, like the Tadashi Shoji ruched chiffon and lace sheath dress.
Here are some chic trends that you can try with neutrals:
  • Pair nude harem pants with a classic white for a casual day. Replace the white with a shimmery gray or beige for the evening
  • A neutral colored shrug or jacket is a must have for the breezier days
  • Balance colors to create some contrast like red with beige
