How to choose a leather coat

Mens leather coats

Leather coats are a wardrobe staple for most men. They can be worn for semi-formal and casual occasions. The type of leather coat one would like is a very personal choice. Finding the right coats requires some basic researching and trial. And at the end of the day, it’s worth the effort as they last you a lifetime. There are different styles of men’s leather coats. Here are some tips on how to choose a leather coat-
  • The first thing you need to do is decide which style of coat you want. The trench coat could be perfect for taller men, while classic hip length works for all body types and heights.
  • Also, leather coats are made of different types of leather. Cowhide leather and buff leather are most durable and expensive. You could just pick the leather material you like.
  • These coats are available in many colors though black is the most preferred color. The other color that is popular for the casual look is brown.
Mens leather coats should not be too tight or too loose. Try the coat and see if you are comfort with your sleeves, shoulders and chest. If you intend to use the coat during winter, it is a good idea to buy a size bigger than you right size. Check details like seams, pocket lining and zippers. For example, the zippers have to be smooth and the seams have to be tough enough to endure long use.
The most common problem with leathers is that they are prone to fungus attack. This spoils the look and texture of the coats. Remember, water is as adversary of leather so protect it from water in all situations. Occasionally put your coat in the sun to get rid of bad odor of the moist leather and air dry the jacket for longevity.
